Drone Remote ID doesn’t have to be a challenge! With our partners at Dronetag, we have developed a simple way to add Remote ID to any aircraft! With only 32g, the Dronetag Mini is small enough for almost any application and it can be set up in less than 20 min! Follow along as we take you through adding Remote ID to any aircraft step-by-step.
1.Open your Dronetag product. Inside, you should see the tag itself and anything you need to charge and mount it using a small adhesive patch.
2. Download and install the Dronetag app in the App Store or Google Play Store.
3. Sign up on the app by creating a personal or work email and new password.
4. Next you will be taken to a map screen showing the location of the device you are currently using.
5. Tapping on the top right icon of the picture (with a person figure) will take you to your profile. This is where you will manage your aircraft and tags.
6. For now, tap on “My Aircraft” and then “Add First Aircraft.”
7. Enter in a name for the aircraft. This can be anything you want.
8. You can either then select from a pre-built list of aircraft from many manufacturers or add a custom unit. In this example, we will be adding a DJI Mavic 2 Zoom.
9. Aircraft Weight will be automatically added to the next section if an aircraft is selected from the pre-built list. If the aircraft is flying with any additional payload, we suggest it be weighed and listed in the Aircraft Weight section.
10. Next, is Aircraft UAS Class and is currently not needed for RID.
11. Then Aircraft Endurance, aka Flight Time.
12. Once all the information that is requested on the page is entered, you can tap create and you’re finished adding your first aircraft!
13. Next, we recommend verifying your email address. By now you should have received an email from Dronetag with a link that you can simply tap to verify that your email is correct.
14. Now, it’s time to add the Dronetag! Power on the Dronetag by pressing and holding the power button for 3-5 Seconds until all three LED’s are illuminated. It will automatically be in pairing mode waiting to be discovered.
15. Back under “Profile” in the app, you can select “My Devices” and your nearby Dronetag will appear, showing its serial number.
16. Tap on it to add the Dronetag and pairing will be complete! Once the Dronetag is able to acquire satellite reception during an outdoor mission, it will automatically start broadcasting and recording flight information.
